Item I Call to Order
The Meeting was called to Order at 11:39 by President Dan Barrett
Statement on Harassment was read by Dan, in addition to land acknowledgement.
The Role Call of officers identified following individuals present: President Dan Barrett,
Vice President Suleman Jasat, Secretary Paola Restrepo, Treasurer Cheryl Wright, Correspondence Secretary Anh Luong.
Regrets: Chief Steward Duane Guerra.
The Union acknowledges deceased members followed by a moment of silence for members Mike Emilio and Shimeem Purani.
The Union would like to thank attendance by special guest Regional VP Of Ontario for UNDE James Potts. James was given the floor and he went over the Bargaining process for the SV group. In the new year Members of the SV group will have the chance to join an information session and vote for or against a binding arbitration. Also, spoke on Education UNDE is providing modules, next training session will take place in the Spring 2025, 2 seats per local with all wages covered and claims will be as per treasury board. Federal Budget Cuts unaware of the impact.
Item II Financial Statement
A Financial Report was presented via phone for the period 01 Oct 2023 – 30 Sep 2024. Treasurer provided an overview of the record. All strike pay was paid out under “Miscellaneous”
Donations to the Wilson Legion in support of laying of a wreath were acknowledged for years 2021,2022,2023 of $75 a year total of $225.00. Budget for Special Functions was discussed for National Public Service Week of a total of $300.00
Motion to Adopt Financial Statement by Mario Fioroni and seconded by Eileen Lessey – motion carried.
Motion to adopt budget for 2024/2025 by Paola Restrepo and seconded by Kati Leppikangas – motion carried.
Item III Year End & Committee Reports
In Chief Steward absent there were no grievance reports to discuss.
1. Labour relation reports currently at 3rd level (classification, phoenix)
2. Pending – numerous informal discussions, more to follow
3. Classification grievances – 2 currently at the informal discussion level
ADR is currently backed up, discussion ensued about work descriptions being updated every 5 years and Union Members should have access to their HR plan.
Item IV Election of Officers
James Potts conducted the elections.
Paola Restrepo and Mario Fioroni nominated Suleman Jasat for position of VP and declined.
Mario Fioroni and Suleman Jasat nominated John Dean for position of Vice President and accepted.
Duane Guerra nominated for position of Chief Steward and accepted via phone.
Dan Barrett and John Dean nominated Mario Fioroni for the position of 1st Auditor and accepted.
Dan Barrett and Suleman Jasat nominated Kirty for the position of 2nd Auditor and accepted.
Item V Administration of Oath
James Potts administered the Oath of Office.
John Dean was acclaimed VP
Duane Guerra acclaimed Chief Steward (not present for swearing in, Dan Barrett to administer Oath as soon as possible)
Mario Fioroni acclaimed 1st Auditor
Kirti Chauhan acclaimed 2nd Auditor
