Day 2 of the Union of National Defence Employees’ 20th Triennial Convention in Banff saw delegates turning their attention to the important work that will help shape the union’s direction for the next three years.
Following the opening day of Convention, Tuesday’s agenda focused on union finances, resolutions, human rights and the tools UNDE is using to better connect with members across the country.
Delegates tackle the business of Convention
The morning began with a report from the Credentials Committee before delegates moved into reports from the Finance Committee to set the budget for the next term.
Delegates also heard a presentation from UNDE’s Human Rights Advisor Sandra Griffiths-Bonaparte the UNDE Human Rights Committee. They showed a video highlighting the important work of their committee and a call to action for members to get involved at the local level.
Connecting members through UNDE’s new website
In the afternoon, UNDE’s Communications Officer Jessica Vaid introduced delegates to the features of UNDE’s new website.
The presentation walked delegates through the new site and highlighted how it will support Locals and members as a communications, education and mobilization tool.
Convention continues
Delegates got back to business with another Credentials Committee report and began hearing the resolutions brought forward by the Bylaws and General Committees.
They recessed for the day and headed off to the Banff Park Ranch for a special event put on by this year’s Convention Host Committee.
