    • Discussion: wrong minutes was presented, Denise Davey motioned to table last GM and this GM’s minutes for May meeting.

    6. TREASURER’S REPORT

    1. Debbie Wilfong lost her check. Kim motioned to replace check. Seconded by Eric Gosbjorn and Danny Kilmer. All in favor, motion carried.

    2. Steve Sukhbir asked for financials to be sent prior to general meeting. John Belanger motioned to have financials, agenda and minutes to be sent out electronically prior to meeting. Seconded by Steve Sukhbir. All not in favor, motion rejected (for financials to be sent out prior).

    3. Kim Haynes motioned to have agenda out 1 week prior to meeting. Seconded by Trevor Bencharski and Persy Abaunza. All in favor, motion carried.

    4. Kim Haynes said members can contact her anytime for any union financial queries.

    7. COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE

  • 1. Denise Davey discussed violence in the workplace (including harassment). There is a VIW form that can be found online. Copies of the form should be hung on union or safety board. DNDLearn will upload a video about harassment. Management to make VIW training mandatory in the future. Eric Gosbjorn is the union subject matter expert in VIW since he is the union safety rep.

    2. Members are entitled to take safety courses offered by BGSO (various dates). Talk to unit safety rep about enrolling in the courses.

    3. First Aid Course is also offered by BGSO on March 20-21.

    4. Common issues at bargaining table: Phoenix, Terms and Temps, Contracting Out, Domestic Violence Leave, More time for families, Childcare, Mental Health in the workplace, and Civilian members of RCMP.

    Public Interest Commission has been called and they recommended going back to the table.

    5. PSAC sent out new union plastic cards starting in January. Anyone who notices errors on the card (wrong ID # etc.) to contact Denise Davey.

    6. United Way’s Labour Appreciation Day on March 16. It costs $90 per person to attend. Mike Hogan motioned to have at least 2 people going. Seconded by Cindy Verner. All in favor – motion carried. Cindy Verner, Graham Baker and Royce Loh volunteered to go. Kim Haynes motioned to send all 3. Seconded by Eric Gosbjorn and Mike Hogan. All in favor – motion carried.

    7. International Women’s Day on base on March 8 from 09:30 to 11:00 at the Lamplighter. There will be coffee break/ brunch, award presentations and guest speakers.

    9. HEALTH AND SAFETY REPORTS

  • There was a base safety meeting on December 4 but Eric Gosbjorn didn’t go. Per Eric, some places have no safety boards, safety talks or even civilians in safety committees. Would like to see members attend safety courses and meetings. Royce Loh asked about number of representatives related to workers in a unit.

    Denise Davey attended 1 Service Battalion LMCC and will attend other units’ LMCCs. Graham Baker inquired about LMCC for Food Services.

  • 1. The old laptop can be upgraded. The cost will be $89 to add 8GB memory and $135 for a solid state hard drive. Total: $235.20. Will also ask for free reimaging. This will be done by Phil at 3 CDSB Sig Sqn. Eric Gosbjorn motioned to upgrade the laptop, not to exceed $300. Seconded by Graham Baker and Robin Fortin. All in favor – motion carried.

    2. Denise Davey will submit a business case for 2 new laptops. Will probably buy them through 3 CDSB Sig Sqn.

    3. Kim Haynes said that $200 budget for sundries has been pre-approved at the annual general meeting. She will also donate a whiteboard.

    4. Persy Abaunza volunteered to be in the Bursary Committee.

  • 1. Feb 28: Phoenix Day of Action https://www.facebook.com/events/298352514157107/

    Members to wear black on Feb 28 and meet at Tim Hortons at 12:15 for group pictures.

    2. The executives would like to see new employees to take TUB course, possible to put a clause in by-laws? Denise Davey will check if TUB can be facilitated on base.

    3. Anyone who has taken grievance course are automatically a steward, to help with grievance cases.

  • 1. Mike Hogan wanted to know if LCC will have another Know Your Collective Agreement course. Denise Davey is putting together some JLP courses – TBA.

    2. Kim Haynes inquired about By-laws committee – on hold.

    3. Leanne Ordish brought up the Council Locals meeting on April 11-14 in Yellowknife. President and one member can go. Leanne Ordish, Graham Baker, Steve Sukhbir and Kim Haynes volunteered to go. Members voted to elect Kim Haynes to go with Denise Davey. Eric Gosbjorn motioned to destroy ballot, seconded by Steve Sukhbir and John Belanger. All in favor – motion carried.

    16. NEXT GENERAL MEETING

    • Date/ Time: Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Denise Davey is working on asking permission from base for extended lunch hour, possibility of having meeting at lunch hour – TBA.
