Financial Report

Finances are good. Huge savings achieved by change in cell phone plans as instituted by the 1st Vice and Treasurer. Fees are down $2,000 from this time last year. Currently $1K, last year $3K.

Treasurers report to be attached to minutes. Is it possible to have a monthly report in addition to the year-to-date report received at each meeting?

Yes, will do.

Labour Day Family Fun Day (LDFFD)

Primary goal of this meeting and reason it was called a week early is to discuss LDFFD. Proposing LDFFD be cancelled for 2014. Susan and Melissa were invited as they are handling the childrens’ activities for LDFFD. They declined; had a discussion with them and they will follow with our decisions re LDFFD. The lack of effort and buy-in from all those involved to date has been disappointing. So far we have received financial support but no assistance otherwise outside of local 629. To date:

$1000 RCLC

$200 CUPE

$100 local 749

$250 Teachers Union

Nothing so for from UNDE & PSAC nationally.

Treasurer to draft a letter to accompany returned cheques. The RCLC cheque was deposited so a new cheque will be cut to return the donation. Discussed issue with 1st Vice and he is also in agreement to cancel LDFFD for 2014.

Motion to cancel Labour Day Family Fun Day 2014?

Motion passed unanimously.

PSAC Convention

Convention was a huge learning experience even though unsuccessfull in election bid. All proceeds from the bar in the amount of $300 were donated to the Robbie Dean Foundation. Feels the UNDE Convention will be different.

The politics at the convention were incredible, amazed at the number of equity groups and impressed that our mbrs stood and spoke.

Upcoming UNDE Convention

Has received a letter from the Chief Shop Steward indicating that her family has received notice that they are posted out of Petawawa. Because of this she feels that she should not be spending the Unions money attending the convention and is therefore respectfully stepping away from attending. Thanks her for her difficult and selfless decision. The alternates have been contacted and all but one has declined. Will be contacting them to offer the opportunity.
