This site has been developed to assist Local UNDE representatives in assisting UNDE members to better understand the grievance process.

UNDE also provides grievance representation training. If a UNDE Local is interested in receiving this training, they should contact their UNDE Regional Vice President.

Federal legislation, provincial legislations, and negotiated collective agreements, allow members the right to present a grievance. Local representatives should always refer to the grievor’s collective agreement which outlines the grievance process applicable to the grievor’s respective workplace.

UNDE Union Services Officers (USOs) are available to provide advice and assistance to UNDE Local representatives. However, the UNDE USOs are not always as familiar with the various workplaces and employer relationships as UNDE elected representatives and Stewards would be. Following consultation with the Local representative, USOs can review proposed grievance wording and provide advice for suggested wording or arguments that can be used.
